Introduction
Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog. This will be a place where we can debate theology, reflect on current events and laugh and the weird and wonderful ways of the world. Some of it will be serious, some, not so much. Thank you for taking the time to stop by.
So, who is this person anyway? That’s your question right? Well, I am Canadian (cue the Molson commercial). I am a Christian. I am a student. I graduated from Emmanuel Bible College in 2004 with a Bachelor of Religious Education. I am finishing up a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies, and am aiming to start a Master’s Degree in Theology in the Fall of 2008.
I am pursuing ordination in the Church of the Nazarene (Canada), and currently serve at Hamilton First Church of the Nazarene as a worship leader. I guest-preach at several churches in the Hamilton area, as invited, and am available to speak at both church services and informal Bible studies.
My passion and my goal is to help churches that are in a time of transition, either because a long-time pastor has left and they need someone to continue pastoral care until they call their new pastor, or because the church has recently had a split or other problem that requires a time of healing.
I get excited about Scripture and my message is that Christianity is a smart religion! There are layers of irony, inneundo, sarcasm and intrigue in Scripture, that we tend to not to see because we’re so busy trying to discern God’s words. Scripture is exciting and fun (yes even Leviticus)!
That being said, the Church is not my entire life. I am an avid reader and a not so closet Trekkie. I love science fiction! I have been known to randomly use quotes from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” in everyday conversation, and when I started dating my husband, I described our relationship as being in a “warp bubble”. I am working on my first novel (very exciting), and am attempting to finish two scrapbooking projects. I bowl in a 5 pin league on Sunday nights, and can be found daily reading all the weird news on Fark.
Thank you for visiting, stay tuned!

Welcome to Blogdom! I am honoured to make your initial blogroll. BTW I’m also a big fan of Buffy.
Spent a summer in Hamilton way, way back in the day. We were there staying with friends last summer.
Although I must admit I do prefer candle pin, not that you can find that anywhere in Ontario!

Hi Frank! I have been reading your blog for some time now. I appreciate your interaction with the emerging/post-modern church movement and find myself adding books that you talk about using in your research to my “must read” list (granted that list is pretty long).
The last place I knew of that had candle pin was out at Wasaga Beach, but that was years ago!

Candle pin is all the rage in the Maritimes. It was the only kind bowling I knew before I moved up here.
Glad to hear you’ve been reading my blog. I love the rose petal idea for Pentecost BTW. I’ll have to give some thought to other ideas.
blessings!
